Funny how I acknowledged the fact that it wasn't spyware and "Anna" argues for more than half the letter that the program is not spyware. Stupid form letters.
Another thing, she says the program comes bundled with several different programs and even comes pre-installed on many new computers. Well, I didn't download any of the listed programs and my laptop is almost three years old.

The Viewpoint Media Player is a plug-in that enables the viewing of 3D content on the internet. It is the engine that drives AOL Super Buddies, AIM Themes and other popular web applications. The Viewpoint Media Player and Manager is bundled with AOL, AIM, versions of Netscape, certain Adobe products and most retail computers sold today. The Viewpoint toolbar was offered as an opt-in experience based on your Viewpoint Manager Preference settings.
At no time whatsoever does the Viewpoint Media Player, Manager, or Toolbar collect ANY personal data about you or your usage patterns, nor do we install third-party software or access information on your hard drive. The auto-update process happens totally anonymously and happens solely to ensure that your player is up-to-date. Since we do not collect personal data, there is no way - as in the case of 'spyware' - to "traffic" or sell your personal information. We as a company find spyware to be reprehensible and we are committed to protecting the privacy of all of our users.

Did you have any additional questions? I've always wanted to respond to that closer with a bunch of random questions....strange thing is, no one outside of a business setting has ever closed correspondence to me with that one...
