"Up to now," he said to Julian, "I have served you as a soldier; allow me henceforth to serve Christ. Give the bounty to these others who are going out to battle. I am a soldier of Christ and it is not lawful for me to fight."
Did you know that in Catholicism every day is dedicated to a saint? This is called a feast day. Back in medieval times, all of Christendom would celebrate these feast days with what else -- time off work and, you guessed it, a feast. Thus, nearly half the year was a holiday much akin to our modern Thanksgiving.
Now, everyone knows it's Veteran's Day, right?
Happy Veteran's Day to all of you who have fought.

For those of you out there who have never fought, or simply don't believe in the use of military force, the Catholics (my old tribe) have a holiday for you.
Happy Feast of St. Martin of Tours!
Veteran's Day and the Feast of St. Martin of Tours both fall on the same day. What a coincidence.
