I just made a totally random discovery before logging on here to write a new entry. On the Blogger.com homepage there is always a sidebar on the left hand side of the screen. It displays about a dozen of the most recently published blogs and with so many blogs, the titles listed change every nanosecond.

When I logged on today, I was elated to see a recently published blog from

dalit.blogspot.com

Dalit is the politically correct Hindi word for the lowest Indian class, those previously known as Untouchables.

After being in India for over a month and seeing the disparity of rights, living conditions, educational opportunities, and career opportunities offered to those of the lowest class and the higher classes, it was a thrill to visit such a site.

The Dalits have been an oppressed people ever since Aryan invaders with paler skin and more advanced weaponry developed a formal religion and wrote a scripture assuring them an deluxe apartment in the sky.

Anyone with brains or a tinge of compassion can realize the caste system in India is complete bullshit.

The Dalits are taking action like never before. Some are going as far as to convert to Buddhism, thereby whispering a reverent "fuck you" to the whole system.
